A quick guide to help you plan your investment activities:

Eid-Ul-Fitr: The first closure falls on Thursday, April 11, 2024. This marks the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr or Ramzan Id, a major festival celebrated by Muslims after the holy month of Ramadan.

Ram Navami: Similarly, on April 17, 2024 (Wednesday), there won’t be any trading on the BSE and NSE since the nation would be celebrating Ramnavmi, a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Rama, the seventh avatar of Vishnu.

Regular Operations Resume: Both the BSE and NSE will resume regular trading activities on the following day after each closure, which is Friday, April 12 and Thursday, April 18, respectively.

Equity markets will be shut once each in May, June, July, August, October and December and twice in November. November 1, Friday will be Diwali (Laxmi Pujan). Muhurat Trading will be conducted by the exchanges. The timings for the Mahurat Trading will be notified later.

Any modifications to the stock market holiday schedule will be communicated ahead of time through a separate circular.

MCX, NCDEX to remain closed on April 11 and April 17

On both days – 11 and 17 in April, trading on the Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX), the biggest commodity exchange in the nation, in the morning from 9 am to 5 pm, would be suspended. The trading session will recommence in the evening between 5 pm and 11:30/11:55 pm.

The NCDEX, the non-agri commodity exchange, will likewise be closed on both days.

Trading holidays have been announced for 14 days in 2024, in accordance with the BSE holiday calendar. This year, indices have closed four times so far — once on Republic Day, January 26, and three days in March due to Maha Shivratri, Holi, and Good Friday. There were just three trading days this week.
