Salesforce snatches up Zoomin, a tool for organizing company knowledge
There’s a buying spree going on at Salesforce.
After grabbing data management firm own at the beginning of the month, Salesforce today announced its plans to buy an enterprise knowledge platform called Zoomin. Zoomin — which we’ve talked about several times before — integrates company documents, such as product user guides and tutorials, into a single portal.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Salesforce expects the deal to close in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2025 (January 31), subject to customary closing conditions.
Founded in 2019 by Gal Oron, Hannan Saltzman, and Joe Gelb, Zoomin uses AI and big data to help companies create self-service document search and support experiences. The Israeli startup’s clients range from tech brands like McAfee and Dell to fast food franchises like Burger King, Tim Hortons, and Popeyes.
Zoomin’s investors — which include General Atlantic, Bessemer Venture Partners, Viola Growth and Salesforce’s own venture organization, Salesforce Ventures — have pumped $73 million into the firm.
Rahul Auradkar, executive vice president of integrated data sources at Salesforce, says that following the acquisition, Zoomin will enhance Salesforce’s data cloud platform, powering use cases such as using the company’s knowledge base to automate customer service interactions.
“Proprietary unstructured data is a powerful fuel that our customers can use for AI agents and customer experiences,” said Auradkar, “and Zoomin’s proven expertise and technology will accelerate innovation of the data cloud and enable our customers to realize better value.”
Salesforce’s acquisition of Zoomin comes at a time when the technology giant has pledged to spend an additional $500 million in cash on AI startups through Salesforce Ventures.
