Stanford professor Fei-Fei Li, considered by many to be the “Godmother of AI,” has raised $230 million for her new startup World Labs from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, NEA, and Radical Ventures.

TechCrunch reported in August that World Labs was valued at more than $1 billion, and the capital was raised in two rounds, separated by a few months.

Lee’s company, which hopes to produce its first product in 2025, aims to create AI models that understand and interact with 3D worlds. World Labs is developing “large world models” that will be used by professionals such as artists, designers, developers, and engineers. Martin Casado, a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz, told Wired that World Labs’ customers could include game companies or movie studios.
